The Club has been granted permission to use the trail North of Route 31. Many members have been working countless hours to resecure this crossing or find an alternate route. Safety has been our highest priority and any of the short term reroutes would not have been good. The Club is always looking for long term routes for a secure trail system, but find that to be very difficult. "Suburban Sprawl" is something that we are aware of and generally have time to plan for. Losing trails due to loud sleds, especially late at night, or riding off the marked trails is very dissappointing. Lack of respect for the landowner by another recreational group is what put this section of trail in jeapordy We cannot state this enough - "RESPECT THE LANDOWNERS AND STAY ON THE TRAIL". Next time you see Jim Meyer, please say thank you! He has led a large group of individuals to find a solution, and we will continue to seek out long term solutions. Note: as of January 7, the trail is still open only North of the canal. This section of the trail should be marked by this weekend and the Club will announce when conditions allow it to be opened. |
